Funding Regular Program / Funding / Programme régulier Through an annual call for proposals, Béati grants unrestricted three-year funding of $30,000 per year, for a total of $90,000. Since 2024, 8 new initiatives will be funded each year, thanks to the revision of our contingency rate. Unrestricted funding: So that each organization can allocate funds according to its priorities. Selection criteria that reflect our values, as well as exclusion criteria and intentional political equity targets. We take a trust-based approach to philanthropy and therefore have, among other things, a simplified process: initial submission in the form of a letter (or video) of intent, minimal reporting, and, in the event of non-selection, the possibility of resubmitting the following year without a waiting period. Final selection is made entirely by a peer committee: Our selection committee is independent of the staff team and the Board of Directors and has full decision-making power in choosing proposals. More than just funding! Organizations can access support, if they wish, including tools, resources, coaching, and training to support their initiative. Funding Themes Unconditional Solidarity Unconditional solidarity represents a deep commitment to welcoming others, without conditions. By transforming power structures and ways of doing things, it is possible to create truly inclusive and equitable spaces. Through unconditional solidarity, we can create safe and welcoming spaces that respect the rights and dignity of every person, and foster respectful and empowering exchanges. The Foundation therefore wishes to support organizations and collectives in Quebec that are actively building these “radical forms of hospitality” or that are considering doing so in a more in-depth manner. Whether through dialogue, exchange, mediation, or cultural and political transformation initiatives, the goal is to help shape a more hospitable and inclusive world. Emancipatory Futures In this theme, we want to encourage visions and practices that challenge current power structures and offer viable alternatives to systems of oppression. In short, in a world of persistent inequality, we want to support the creation of new imaginaries of the future. For us, “emancipatory futures” are new perspectives that take into account the overlooked aspects of our history. They are projects that stimulate collective innovation and creative thinking. They are pathways to a more just and equitable society through the exploration of alternative futures, promoting the emergence of innovative solutions to contemporary challenges. They are levers for critiquing the present and levers for dreaming and co-creating a profoundly different future. Selection Process For full details on the process, see our Guiding Framework.
