For an Inclusive and Decolonial Chinatown

The Montreal Chinatown Roundtable (MCRT) is a citizen-led, cross-sector coalition bringing together residents, business owners, community organizations, and families to collectively build an inclusive and solidarity-based vision for their neighbourhood.

With its initiative “For an Inclusive and Decolonial Chinatown”, MCRT seeks to strengthen alliances among racialized and marginalized communities in response to the housing crisis, homelessness, poverty, and rising intolerance. Their approach is grounded in values of decolonization, intersectional struggle, and the inclusion of gender, class, and migration status diversity.

In a context where the neighbourhood faces intense pressure—speculation, gentrification, exclusion— MCRT proposes another path: a human-scale neighbourhood rooted in solidarity, mutual care, and co-creation with those most affected.
