2025 Futurs émancipateurs Afro-Québécois Collective Garden With its initiative “Afro-Québécois Collective Garden”, the organization aims to grow exotic vegetables (Afro-Caribbean, Asian, etc.) on a large scale in the heart of Québec City. Regions: Capitale-Nationale The goal: to address food insecurity experienced by Afrodescendant and racialized communities, while celebrating the richness of their culinary traditions. This production site will become a space for empowerment and cultural recognition, providing access to fresh, affordable, and culturally appropriate foods. It will help strengthen immigrants’ sense of belonging and support their integration into Québec society. The urban farm also contributes to the ecological transition by transforming unused land into nourishing green spaces that foster biodiversity, cool the city, and strengthen local food systems. An educational component will allow residents to discover new food cultures and better understand the contributions of racialized communities to Québec’s social and ecological fabric.
