Bridge Program / Philanthropic Alliance / Bridge Program Today’s social and environmental realities pose new challenges for committed groups across Quebec. Structural barriers limit access to resources and hinder the growth of initiatives that bring about lasting change. At the same time, the philanthropic sector is exploring ways to more effectively support these efforts throughout Quebec, in addition to seeking to adopt more collaborative approaches. Faced with the growing challenges encountered by communities, it is becoming essential for the philanthropic sector to experiment with flexible mechanisms rooted in meaningful relationships of trust with these communities. It is in this spirit that we are developing the Bridge Program, scheduled for December 2025. This program aims to offer increased financial support aligned with the priorities of the supported groups, while fully respecting their autonomy. It will be based on flexible funding, participatory peer selection, and tailored strategic support. Who is the Bridge Program for? This initiative is designed specifically for philanthropic foundations and other stakeholders wishing to offer significant financial support specifically adapted to Quebec’s diverse regional realities. The needs are varied and constantly evolving. For now, we have identified, among others: Stakeholders who actively explore alternative and more flexible approaches in their relationships with supported organizations and in their methods of granting funds. Pan-Canadian foundations wishing to better adapt their interventions to the linguistic, cultural, and socio-political particularities of Quebec. Foundations wishing to support activist or advocacy initiatives, seeking to amplify their support for actions that promote more just and equitable systems. Smaller foundations seeking strategic partnerships for their selection and capacity-building processes. Why work with us? The Bridge Program is based on a shared vision of social change in which community groups, collectives, and advocacy organizations play an essential role in building a more equitable and just society. This initiative aims to strengthen their capacity to take action, in particular through: An extensive network of Quebec and pan-Canadian collaborations, optimizing resources and amplifying the impact of granted funds. An authentic and proven regional rootedness, facilitating a response tailored to local and regional specificities throughout Quebec. A trust-based philanthropy, prioritizing a reduction in administrative constraints in order to fully respect the decision-making autonomy of supported groups. A constant openness to innovation and experimentation, to continuously evaluate the relevance and effectiveness of our philanthropic approaches in close collaboration with concerned groups. This approach is based on a sincere recognition of the indispensable role these groups play in social balance and vitality. It is this conviction that guides the creation of the Bridge Program, and it is with this in mind that we invite foundations to actively collaborate with us. We therefore invite foundations and other interested stakeholders to participate now in the preliminary discussions to jointly develop the foundations of the Bridge Program.
